Mother Nature was kind to us and held off the rains till late in the afternoon 🙂

Another year, another Alumni Picnic, another small turnout, but it was great to see old friends and make new ones too!

(Here’s a link to MORE picnic pictures.)

In the coming weeks we will be discussing when (or if) we will have another picnic. Keep checking back to join in the discussion.

A bit of a new look for the old website.  Anticipating increasing viewership as we lead up to the 2018 Alumni Picnic, we’re working to improve loading speed and visibility.  Unfortunately, this will mean occasional down time so keep checking back if you find the site is down.  (We’re working as fast as we can 🙂 )  BTW, you may need to refresh your browser to see the changes.

We’ve had a brief respite from the oppressive heat of late, which turns our thoughts to autumn, and those autumnal thoughts lead (naturally) to the 2018 Alumni Picnic!

This year we’re going to bring a mess of burgers, dogs, charcoal fixin’s and drinks, and if we run out, we’ll send out for MORE (get it?) All we want from you is your bodies. (Read into that what you wish :-)) So what’s the catch you ask? Well, we will put out the infamous picnic “Tip Jar” and it would nice if some could bring a side dish, and we can’t provide for special diets, and of course we will insist on your participation in the dreaded “group picture”, but what we really want is your bodies. (Am I repeating myself? Can you tell I’m not an English teacher?) This is a family event so bring the kids!

(Tucson Parks and Rec has a no glass bottle policy so if you bring beverages, please stick to plastic or metal containers.)

The Specifics:

When: Sunday, October 21 2018

Where: La Madera Park  2700 E la Madera Dr, Tucson, Arizona 85716

Time: 11:00 – 4:00

Once again Liberti Moreno (Cabrona Pero Cariñoza) has come through for us, securing ramada reservations and the all-important beer permit!

The park has only one ramada so it will be easy to find us. There’s lots of shade, and the park has a nice playground, so bring the kids

WE NEED YOUR HELP NOTIFYING OUR FELLOW ALUMNI!

If you are in contact with any alumni (alumnus?) please ask if they are aware of the event and if not, extend a personal invitation. Also, please and ask them to “like” the Project MORE Alumni Facebook page so they get updates! If they aren’t on Facebook, event details can be found on the main page of projectmorealumni.com We’ll also post the event on classmates.com

Of course you’re tired of hearing this, but we’re still trying to track down items of memorabilia. If you have any of the following (and you would be willing to loan them to us), please bring them to the picnic or drop us a note so we can make arrangements to pick them up. We promise to take good care of them and will return them as soon as they are copied or scanned.

Wanted items include:

Graduation Programs
Any pre-1986
1991 and 2003

Graduation Videos
Any pre-1991
1994, 1998 and 2001

Photographs and any other memorabilia
Any you wish to share (be sure to clearly mark your name so they can be returned.)

SEE YOU ON OCTOBER 21st!

Fellow MOREons,

I had planned to spend some time today composing a happy post about the Autumn Alumni Picnic. That must wait however as I have some extremely sad news to pass on. Last night I received word that Del Evans (who damned near everyone knew only as Del) died last Saturday (July 28.) Del’s significant other, Claire Fellows, said that Del had been ill for some time and that he wanted me to let his friends know of his passing.

Del was our friend, our teacher, our brother.  I’m certain he would roll his eyes at my sentimentality but I will miss him dearly, as I know will many of you.

Take care of yourselves, love each other, help each other, take care of each other.

John “C.”

The results of the latest poll favored a Spring picnic but since only 10 people actually voted we are going to stick with the original plan for a Fall picnic.
